Join us for a fabulous day of fishing on some of the best fishing waters in France!
Start you day with a warm cuppa, a warm welcome and a chat before we plan our day and head out.
We are extremely lucky here in Bonnes that we have access to some excellent fishing in and around our beautiful village. With a very active society of fishermen.
Course fishing is fishing for freshwater fish that are not salmonoids.
Included, but not limited to:
- A look at the equipment needed for course fishing.
- Rod choice – Whats good for each type of fishing.
- Setup – we willlook and try a selection of different float methods and ledger (bottom fishing) setups and try them out.
- Bait choices.
- Selective fishing.
- Landing and disgorging techniques.
- Rules and Regulations (In France)
- On going help throughout the day.
- Local, historic and unconventional tips and tricks!
- You can continue fishing for the rest of the day/evening.
This will be a very practical day with lots of hand on and plenty of time spent on the river. Therefor, you must come dressed appropriately for the weather (sun hats, cream, rain coats etc.) Boots / Wellies are recommended. Please wear dark clothing, greens, blacks, browns etc, bright colours can scare the fish away! Likewise, noise and fast movements also have a negative impact, so we suggest not bringing a dog or young children (see young children section below).
ALL EQUIPMENT & BAIT PROVIDED – If you have your own you are welcome to bring it.
We will not be able to fish in heavy rain or if there is any chance of a thunderstorm. We will re arrange the day or refund if this is the case. The experience is aimed at beginners/refreshers or fishermen that have not fished in France before. While we are confident you will have a great day fishing, the fish do not always bite! some days you will be inundated with fish, others very little, this is the life of the fisherman! We will do our best to provide you with tips, techniques and know-how to get the fish biting!
Lunch: We will stop for lunch at an appropriate time, you will need to bring your own packed lunch, tea/coffee will be provided throughout the day.
Licence: By Law you MUST HAVE a valid fishing permit – A “carte du pêche”. You will NOT be able to partake in the workshop without one. There are serious repercussions for not having one and people are checked regularly. (This is in addition to the workshop price)

We would suggest that this day is suitable for people with a good attention span who do not mind sitting still for longer periods (12+). If you wish to bring children, who are more than welcome, we can provide a shorter morning or afternoon of fishing using more kid friendly techniques.
Normally this would consist of pole fishing on a lake/pond or slow moving stream that has been well baited to improve success and enjoyment for the child.
